Takin’ Classes Outside

We hear you, pushing yourself at home with online workouts isn’t the same as the real deal, in fact it’s not even close! We just couldn’t wait any longer for indoor group fitness to start back up again so we’re excited to launch our outdoor group fitness classes.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Classes will be held right outside B on the patio
  • We will be offering full body classes. The decision will be yours to take on the cardio components to make it a bootcamp or stick with straight strength exercises
  • We are starting with a very limited schedule and will add classes based on popularity
  • Classes will run unless it’s raining

What you need to do:

  • Sign up online like you normally would
  • Bring a pair of outdoor workout shoes
  • Bring your own yoga mat
  • Bring a full water bottle

Our current covid protocols remain in place so we ask that you only enter the studio when completely necessary. Only arrive a few minutes before class start time, and kindly keep your distance before, during, and after the class.

We are SO excited to get the blood pumpin’ with you all again!

COVID- 19 Update

B Family,  

It is with sad, but full hearts, and tremendous hope for the future that I write to announce we will be temporarily closing our doors effective immediately.

As the COVID-19 situation has evolved, so has our response. While we aimed to provide you with a health sanctuary for your fitness as long as we felt it was safe, recent updates provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) now state that further action needs to be taken to help minimize the impact of COVID-19. With this updated information, we no longer feel that it is safe for you, or our community to keep our classes running.

Throughout this process, we have been clear that our goal was always to provide a safe space for you. We tried to stay open as long as we could to offer our team and our community a place of stability in a scary, and ever-changing world. We are a small business built on the foundation of incredible people, and we stand by our decisions and are grateful that we were able to provide you with a safe sanctuary for as long as we did. 

As such, I feel it is important to recognize our amazing team, and all of our members, our B family, that came together to keep B a safe space, a home away from home, during this chaos. The B staff who showed up to follow through on our ongoing commitment and promise to you of offering exceptional classes, and an ever-loving inclusive community, who worked tirelessly through it all while keeping spirits high and smiles bright to create lasting memories of happiness and togetherness. For this, I can’t thank you all enough. You are all loved so much and such a big part of what makes B,B.

 

As of today, all classes in studio will be suspended temporarily, until we receive further information indicating it is once again safe to operate. More information on our online workout classes can be found below. In the meantime:

  • Those on auto-renewing memberships will have the option to pause their account by simply responding to this email and changing the subject to “Please Pause.” However, as a young, new business, we kindly ask that if you are in a financial position to keep your membership running you do so – we will be forever grateful for you lightening the burden this has placed on us. You can change your mind at any time should your own circumstances change.
  • All punch passes will have an extended expiration date.
  • All those on introductory offers will have their terms extended.
  • We have also set no expiration on all punch passes purchased during this time, so anything purchased during this time can be used at a later date at B.
  • We are still offering discounted personal training sessions at this time.
  • We will be offering free, private workout sessions for all Interior Health staff supporting this pandemic on the front line.

We strongly believe in movement and while we can’t move collectively as one right now, we’ll be sharing home workout videos that you can do from home to keep you active and moving while this runs its course. For the time being, we are running this private collection of workout videos for our B Family, on our Facebook page – simply request to join the “B Fit – Home Edition” group for unlimited access to these classes. This is an ever-evolving platform, so check back regularly for changes and new classes. It’s going to be fun 😉

This remains a complex and rapidly changing situation that reminds us that we are all part of a broader community with a responsibility to look out for each other. We encourage you to try and stay calm, kind, and positive in these times of uncertainty. As we say in our classes, we are all in this together, you are not alone.

Thank you for your support. We will come out the other side of this challenge stronger…together. For now, let’s “just B”.

Create Balance This Summer – Spin + Strength + Patio Time

 We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world – Kelowna! We are spoiled with all of the best wineries, lakes and trails just in our backyard, but it can often be difficult to fit everything in, AND stay committed to your health and fitness routine, right? We understand. That’s why our spin classes, strength classes and bootcamps are just 45 minutes long; you’re in and out within the hour, giving you more time to live your best life in the beautiful Okanagan.

So what’s the easiest way to create that perfect balance? We recommend using the following tips to help you plan your days:

 

  1. Keep a Routine: It’s easy to get out of your routine in the summer months! With company in town, more events and activities than you’re used to means your “normal” suffers. But, if you want that spin class on your schedule – book it in! Even if you only come twice a week, book yourself in and work your day around it. If you attend the 9:15AM spin class every Tuesday and Thursday it becomes less daunting than trying to fit it in between all of your other plans.
  2. Consistency is Key. While it’s fun to take time off, the summer often makes us guilty of overindulging, which means we need to keep up with our fitness more than ever. Have fun, but try and keep your exercise routine somewhat consistent amongst your chaotic summer plans.
  3. Make it a Group Activity. The only thing better than sweating out all of your summer sins in a killer spin class or bootcamp, is to bring a friend in with you! Misery loves company, right? All jokes aside, we find a lot of out of town visitors really do appreciate a fun and healthy morning activity once in a while! Your mimosa will still be waiting for you when you’re done.
  4. Workout Smarter. You know the “basic gym workout” where if you’re like most people, your efficiency is mediocre, at best, and your intensity is anything but stellar. But you are THERE, working out so it counts for something. And you’re not wrong, it is certainly better than nothing, but we encourage you to try and workout smarter this summer. Join us for a 45 minute spin class, bootcamp or strength training class and maximize your time. Looking for a little bit more? You could also try out one of our combo classes; that is a 30 minutes spin class followed by 30 minutes of strength training. One power hour workout.

Unlimited Spin Classes, Strength Training and Bootcamps in Kelowna This Summer!

We believe in balance. We love working out. We also love wine. We live in Kelowna and we are here to have our cake and eat it too.

We understand that summers in Kelowna are, well, a really good time! There are so many fun activities to get involved in; wakeboarding, boating, hiking, golfing to name a few, and not to mention all of wine tours and day excursions you’ll be taking your visitors on! So when do we expect you to get good use out of your gym membership? Good question! As often as you can, because unlimited is the new punch pass.

We are excited to announce our Endless Summer membership! This limited time membership is $300 for unlimited access throughout all of June, July, and August! That means, if you can make it to 2 classes a week, you are saving money by using the unlimited pass. And history tells us, if you get an unlimited pass, you want to make it worth it, so you’ll come more often than normal.

To further entice you, in addition to our fun and challenging spin classes and bootcamps, we have also added some combo classes to our schedule this summer! These are a 30 minute spin class combined with a 30 minute strength training class or a 30 minute booty blast workout! In and out within an hour, with plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine!

Kelowna’s Most Affordable Spin + Strength Workout Plan

We know, we know, when you come into a boutique fitness studio the last thing that comes to mind is, “oh wow, this is going to be so affordable.” However, what we DO want you to think is, “I need to be a part of this community.” Whether this is your first go at working out, or you’re training for a triathlon, or just want to rock those summer outfits, at B Indoor Cycle & Strength Studio our job is to make you happy! We want you to feel comfortable, physically, mentally and even financially. While we would love to offer everyone free spin classes, that’s obviously not something we can offer (sorry!) however, we do have such a large variety of different class packs and options, that attending spin, strength, and bootcamps is something that can fit into most budgets, if you’re willing to commit to your health and fitness.
Let’s look at it this way…. Our B Pass Unlimited is $130/month. That includes full unlimited access to:
• Spin classes
• Strength Classes
• Bootcamps
• Arms & Abs
• Booty Blast
The variety of classes, means you don’t really need to pay for memberships at various places. Why pay for a gym membership if you’re going to go walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes when you can get a full small group training guided session?!
Let’s break down the cost per class
3 Workouts Per Week = $10.80/class
4 Workouts Per Week = $8.13/class
5 Workouts Per Week = $6.50/class

We know you hate hearing, “That’s the price of your latte!” but really, it is. We are so excited to be up and running in time for the beautiful spring season here in Kelowna! Being new to the area, we’d love to meet more of you who are interested in improving your health and fitness. At B, we are a full service fitness studio; offering spin classes, strength classes, bootcamps and personal training – we are your one stop shop for health and fitness. And we really want to meet you!

We thought about inviting each of your separately to come meet us, but decided a big grand opening weekend (with mimosas) would be much more fun! So please come join us on April 6th and April 7th for a fun weekend full of free spin classes, free bootcamps, snacks, games, special offers, and giveaways!

Why You Should Add A Strength Class To Your Fitness Schedule

Spin classes get a lot of hype these days, why is that? Well, first of all, they are an amazing cardiovascular workout that burns a TON of calories! Not to mention, rhythm-based classes with dark lights and loud music (check out our RIDE classes) make your workout feel more like a party than a fat torching sweat session…so, we love spin. Obviously. But what we wanted to talk about is why adding a few dedicated strength training sessions are equally as important when working towards a fitness goal.

Firstly, when you’re strength training your body not only burns calories during your workout but it continues to burn calories after your workout as it works to repair the muscle you’ve just worked. Which means that while you might  not burn as many calories during that 45 minute session, overall you will be burning more calories, as your body will continue to burn through the calories in the recovery process that can last for hours, or even days. Have you ever had a really tough workout? Or a huge hike? Think about how hungry you were the next day? That’s your body burning up calories to repair itself. The muscle that you have on your body actually burns more calories than other tissues, including fat! Meaning, that building muscle is a major component in increasing your resting metabolism, that is, how many calories burns when it’s in a resting state. Hello, you lean machine you!

We want all of our members to reach their goals, and live a full and balanced life. Which is why we think it’s important to have a strength training session or two added to your workout routine every week.  We are a few different styles of strength classes, because we understand it’s not everybody’s jam to hit the weights.

 

Our Straight Strength classes are focused on form, technique, toning and building. There is no cardio in this class; which means you can focus solely on tightening/toning/lifting whichever areas you want to focus on, while keeping your heart rate at a moderate rate.

Our Boot camps on the other hand, are a high paced workout that build strength, and keep your heartrate elevated throughout the 45 minute class. All exercises are focused on building muscle in the areas you need/want it the most. Have something particular you’d like to work out? Tell our trainer and they will work it in. All of our classes are designed by our professional fitness trainers and can be modified around any injuries.

So the next time you feel like you could use a little extra motivation, some extra fat burning and a revamped outlook on fitness, join us for a strength or boot camp session…you will not regret it.

Kelowna’s Newest Spin Studio Offers Six Different Class Types

When it comes to working out in Kelowna, we know you have a lot of options; there are spin studios, bootcamp facilities, fitness classes at the gym, and at home training programs, so what’s a fitness goer to do? Well, at B, we have taken the “work” out of planning your workout. We offer a wide variety of spin and strength training classes that will hit every muscle in your body, every day. With one membership you can improve your cardio, decrease your fat, and build lean muscle, and we almost forgot to mention, you’ll have fun while you’re doing it! We don’t believe fitness is “one size fits all” so we offer a variety of classes to ensure there is something for everyone. 

Here’s a breakdown of the six fitness classes we are offering at our new studio in the lower mission:

RIDE: Our signature class. This isn’t your average “spin class.” We ride to the music, we turn down the lights, and you experience 45 minutes of high intensity bliss, drills, sprints, and a ride that will leave you with a rush of endorphins that will take you through the day.

Classic Ride: Love the ride, but not all the hype? Think of this classic ride as more of a road ride that focuses more on technique, drills and getting you moving, while providing a little bit more recovery time. It’s brighter, it’s (a little bit) quieter but it’s still one hell of a ride.

Rise N’ Ride: Wake up in the morning feelin’ like P-Diddy – there’s no better way to start your day than this high-energy class packed full of intervals, hills, races, and rhythm riding to the latest and greatest beats. This class will spike your heart rate, get your muscles fired up, your metabolism revving and make sure you start your day with a smile! We promise it’s better than brushing your teeth with a bottle of jack. Extra motivation included, because, mornings. 

Lunch RIDE – The slightly less excessive sister of our standard RIDE class. Five minutes shorter, at noon, so you can get your sweat on and sneak in a lunch before you get back to the grind.

Bootcamp – This class has got it all. Muscle sculpting exercises designed to get every muscle firing, executed in a H.I.I.T. style class that keeps your heart rate up, and your body firing on all cylinders.

Straight Strength – Skip the cardio. This class is dedicated to building strength, toning the body and developing muscle in all the right areas. No cardio required.
